Welcome to Pamphlett-Tennyson Sea Scouts! Our property is steeped in history and tradition, and we are excited to offer it for hire to the public. Scouting began in 1907, and since then, it has been a worldwide movement providing fun and adventurous activities for youth members. Our group was formed in 1975 when the 1st Tennyson Sea Scouts and the Graceville Sea Scouts merged to become the Pamphlett Sea Scout Group.
We take great pride in our name, which was inspired by Thomas Pamphlett, John Finnegan, and Richard Parsons, the first Europeans to visit the site of Brisbane in 1823. These three men were former convicts who were shipwrecked off Moreton Island while searching for timber. They eventually found themselves on Bribie Island, where they were picked up by surveyor-general John Oxley, who was searching for a site for a new colony. The trio showed Oxley the Brisbane River, and he was so impressed that he returned with Lt Henry Miller, 14 soldiers, and 29 convicts, including Finnegan.
Our property is not only rich in history, but it is also perfect for hosting events.
